Want to learn a few bike tips and tricks from a BMX Pro? Or hear the fundamentals and importance of riding a bike from the one they call “The Bike Whisperer”? Come hang with Russell Barone and Travis Foreman, two biking instructors who’ve heavily impacted the biking community in several ways.

The program will kick off with a BMX demonstration from professional BMXer Russell Barone along with a few of his fellow riders. Watch in awe as they perform jumps and tricks, demonstrating the difficulty and awesomeness of this two wheeled sport. Following the demo, Travis Foreman better known as “The Bike Whisperer,” will discuss his philosophy on the importance of learning how to ride a bike, a childhood milestone that we can all relate to. Barone will discuss his life as a professional BMX biker and how he’s traveled (and biked) all over the world in countries like Africa and Puerto Rico.

Barone and Foreman have collectively taught thousands of kids how to ride a bike, helping kids gain the confidence and freedom that comes with taking your first solo-ride. A Q&A and open discussion will conclude the program, so bring your own biking stories and questions for the two biking gurus.

  • Originally from Patchogue, NY, Russell Barone, has been in love with wheels from a very early age. When he was 6, Barone started racing BMX bikes and has been on two wheels ever since. Eventually, Barone became a professional BMX rider and has traveled the world competing and making videos. As he got older and it was harder to keep up with the competition, Barone focused his energy on teaching kids to learn biking. Now, Barone runs a full-time bike program at Hayground School and Camp in Bridgehampton, NY. There his bike teaching ranges from the first step, riding without training wheels, to teaching advanced BMX tricks like jumping and riding safety.

  • Mr. Travis Foreman was born and raised in Riverhead, Long Island, New York. He has been an educator for 21 years, working at the Hayground School in Bridgehampton, NY. He feels that being a teacher is his true calling. He felt that he needed to pursue advanced teachings as he had ‘a burning teaching fire’ in him.

In 2017, Mr. Foreman was asked to instruct a kid on how to ride a bike. He knew he had a gift to teach and wanted to help this student achieve his dream. Unbeknownst to him, his detailed training skills led the young student to catch on quickly, and was able to learn to ride a bike in an astonishing seven minutes! Mr. Foreman was coined the nickname ‘The Bike Whisperer.’

‘To date, he has taught over 4,000 students the basic and advanced fundamentals of riding a bike.
