Children’s Spooky Story Hour with Adriana Devers

Award-winning author, poet, and creative Adriana Devers will be the featured reader for The Church’s Children’s Spooky Story Hour. Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Devers will read her award-winning bilingual children’s book Mi Chiquitica en Luna Llena My Little One in Full Moon, a beautifully illustrated book that presents a mother’s description of her child while referencing their Afro-Caribbean cultural identity and family values, and ¡Todos a bailar!, which follows two little ones, singing, dancing, exploring their culture, and celebrating their identity as they get ready for a big party.

Costumes are encouraged and festive light refreshments will be provided!

  • Award Winning Author, poet, educator, cultural events coordinator, and creative. Founder of Cuentos de Triadas INC., creating immersive cultural enriching experiences for the community using a multidisciplinary approach and a Patchogue Arts Council PEACE Project Teaching Artist and Cultural Partner. Her cultural programs present a variety of topics, addressing the needs of underrepresented youth.

    Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, Devers received her Spanish Language and Literature Bachelor's degree, Master’s degree in Liberal Studies and Teaching Certificate from Stony Brook University, NY. Former Westbury Arts 1st Vice President. Eastern Suffolk BOCES and Nassau BOCES Arts-In-Education Presenter. Former freelancer for Orgullo Latino Magazine, Queens N.Y. Freelancer for online Spanish language literacy programs (2021-2022). 2022 New York Foundation for the Arts Incubator for the Arts and Culture Leaders of Color in the Tri-State Area training. 2022 and 2023 Recipient of the Huntington Arts Council NY Regrant Program, with programs that highlight her work as a writer, storyteller and cultural activist. Her love for the arts and involvement in the community keep her actively engaged with several non-for-profit organizations in Long Island. Through her work, Devers looks to highlight her cultural heritage, promoting an open dialogue on current issues, while nourishing a safe space and encouraging community support.
