The East End is filled with outstanding artists of Latino descent, and we are thrilled to present a showcase introducing you to a small number of them. Una Noche Espectacular is a collaboration between Tu Prensa Local, a Spanish language, non-profit media organization that provides news, resources, and information to the Latinx community, and  The Church in celebration of Latino culture and community.

With a roster full of multi-talented performers, the program will feature varying Latino dance, poetry, and music. This is the first in-person event that Tu Prensa Local has presented. Maria del Mar Piedrabuena and Juliana Holguín—Tu Prensa Local’s founders—have curated an unforgettable evening spotlighting Latinos of our community. The Church is honored to be a collaborator. Along with performances that range from Colombian dancers to a Mariachi band, the program will include light festive bites donated from Taqueria Mi Pueblito in Hampton Bays.

Upon entry, guests will be met with an authentic Día De Los Muertos altar constructed on our studio floor by Mexican artist Filiberto Perez. Guests are encouraged to bring gifts and offerings for the altar to honor their late loved ones.

The program will be held on the Main Floor and feature performances from Grupo Folklórico Xochipli, a Mexican dance group whose goal is to elevate and showcase Mexican folk culture and ensure that traditional dance is passed down to future generations. Award-winning author, poet, educator, and cultural activist, Adriana Devers whose work highlights her cultural heritage, having been born and raised in the Dominican Republic, while promoting an open dialogue on current issues and emphasizing the importance of community support and involvement. Brentwood Multicultural Club is a Colombian dance group performing traditional dances across the East End. Accordionist, musician, and singer Duey Meza, who describes his fresh and unique sound as “Cumbiaton” (Cumbia Urbana), a phrase he coined, which fuses Hip-Hop, Reggaeton, Club, and traditional Colombian folk music. Southampton-based Mariachi Mexico Juvenil, a mariachi band that brings authentic 20th-century Mexican mariachi hits to the East End.

Come along for festive food, drink, and performances that celebrate and emphasize the vibrantly talented and creative culture of Latinos in our community.
