Join us for an incredible evening with an esteemed international star!

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

THE MEG OKURA QUINTET brings together original compositions by Meg Okura, whose work reflects a distinct synthesis of classical training, jazz language, and cross-cultural influences. Born in Tokyo and based in New York, Okura studied at The Juilliard School and has established herself as a violinist and composer working across genres. She is a Grammy-nominated artist and has collaborated with musicians including Michael Brecker, Lee Konitz, and David Bowie.

Her compositions often combine structured writing with improvisation, drawing from jazz as well as elements of world music traditions. The quintet format allows for both ensemble interplay and individual expression, with Okura’s violin serving as a central voice. The group has performed at recognized jazz venues such as Birdland and Blue Note, as well as at Jazz at Lincoln Center, presenting programs built around her original works.
