Join us for our second concert of the 2026 summer season with Hamptons Jazz Fest and welcome Trio Libre! Trio Libre is a project by Latin Grammy–winning percussionist Samuel Torres, featuring a minimalist trio of congas, piano, and vibraphone. The ensemble explores a stripped-down approach to jazz and Afro-Latin music through rhythm, texture, and improvisation. Join us for a vibrant evening straight from the heart!
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
TRIO LIBRE is led by Colombian-born, Brooklyn-based percussionist and composer Samuel Torres, a Latin Grammy Award winner known for his work across jazz, Latin, and classical music. The project presents a deliberately reduced instrumentation of congas, piano, and vibraphone, performed by Torres alongside pianist Carmen Staaf and vibraphonist Felipe Fournier.
Developed as a contrast to larger ensemble formats, Trio Libre focuses on a minimal sound built around interaction and sonic clarity. The music emphasizes rhythmic dialogue, harmonic space, and collective improvisation, drawing from Afro-Latin traditions while engaging with jazz and elements of the Western classical repertoire.
