Celebrate the return of Sag Harbor in Focus, the beloved photo exhibition featuring work by Pierson High School students, returning for its tenth year! And raise another glass as we welcome back the Pierson High School students who participated in The Church’s 2026 Fashion intensive workshop facilitated by Mary Jane Marcasiano and supported by the Reutershan Education Trust. The evening begins by applauding the fashionistas as they model their 2026 fashion line in our garden then moves inside to honor the winners of this year’s photography exhibition. The evening concludes with a reception! This year we are honored to have acclaimed photographer Linda K. Alpern as the judge for the photography contest.

The exhibition, which has become a Sag Harbor tradition, highlights life in our village and on the East End as experienced through the lens of Pierson High School students. See their take on the eight exhibition categories: Portraiture, Landscape and the Natural World, Architecture, Still Life, Home and Family, A Sense of Place, People and Activities, and Inside Out. Assembled by artist and Pierson High School art teacher Liz Cataletto, the show includes work done by students in her photography and advanced photography classes.

Alpern will choose one winning photograph from each category. The winners will each receive a $100 prize, with a $1,000 grand prize issued to the photographer with the most outstanding body of work submitted for consideration.

Created by Eric Fischl and April Gornik, the exhibition has become a much-loved annual event. Though focusing on Sag Harbor, the creativity alive in each student year after year exemplifies Eric’s statement, “Art transforms the local into the universal through the lens of the gifted eye.” Thank you to Eric, April, and the Reutershan Educational Trust for their continued support and sponsorship of this program.
