Herb Sambol

Herb Sambol was born in Brooklyn, New York, grew up on the Jersey Shore, and attended Oberlin College, graduating in 1977. After college, Herb worked in several congressional offices in Washington, D.C., and also in campaign management and voter outreach.Herb left Washington to start a career in real estate and hospitality and for the last 25 years has had the opportunity to pursue a variety of interests, including infrastructure development, architectural and historic preservation, and environmental management. Herb has been a regular presence on the South Fork for the last 20 years and a resident of Sag Harbor for the last ten. A member of the Village of Sag Harbor’s Harbor Committee, Herb is also on the board of several nonprofits, including the Citizens Committee for New York City and the Dawgpatch Bandits. He is on the advisory board of GallopNYC, which offers therapeutic riding services for underprivileged children and returning veterans, and is an executive director of the Sambol Family Foundation, which supports a wide range of philanthropic interests including wildlife preservation and disaster relief.
