Soprano saxophone visionary Jane Ira Bloom presents her stellar quartet featuring Mark Elias (bass), Matt Wilson (drums), and Dawn Clement (piano). A pioneer of spatial sound and lyrical improvisation, Bloom’s music is poetic and deeply expressive. Expect an evening of richly textured jazz that’s both intimate and boldly adventurous.

Her latest quartet features a lineup of deep musical chemistry and shared curiosity. Mark Elias (bass) brings a subtle, supportive presence rooted in years of collaboration with Bloom and other jazz luminaries. His melodic phrasing and sensitivity to texture make him a vital anchor in this free-flowing ensemble. Matt Wilson, one of the most beloved drummers in jazz today, contributes his joyful spirit and endless creativity—known for his dynamic touch and ability to shape the emotional arc of a performance. On piano, Dawn Clement infuses the group with elegance, humor, and harmonic sophistication. A rising star, Clement has carved out her own path as a bold improviser and composer, working with a wide range of artists across the jazz landscape.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Jane Ira Bloom is a visionary soprano saxophonist whose artistry lies at the intersection of sound, science, and emotion. Known for her groundbreaking use of live electronics, movement-inspired compositions, and bold improvisations, Bloom is a trailblazer in every sense. A Guggenheim Fellow, recipient of the Charlie Parker Jazz Innovation Award, and NEA Jazz Master, she has spent decades redefining what is possible on the soprano saxophone—both technically and expressively.

The Jane Ira Bloom Quartet offers a performance that is equal parts cerebral and deeply human.
