The eighteen year old Japanese musician has been playing since she was three years old.  Her technical command and a deep connection to the music is presented with each note. Known for her deep appreciation for the life and time of each composer she plays, Miyoshi takes audiences on a unique journey through the music that is steeped in research, passion, and understanding. We invite The Church community to join us as we show Nana a warm Sag Harbor welcome and a collaborative nod to the success of her bright future.

  • When pianist Nana Miyoshi takes the stage at Carnegie Hall on Sunday, May 3, 2026, for her solo recital debut, her performance will represent the culmination of fifteen years of study, practice, hard work, and dedication.

    She is eighteen years old.

Miyoshi began her studies at the age of three and has throughout that time had one goal in mind—to become a concert pianist: a profession for which she continues to demonstrate a level of focus, commitment, and persistence second to none. Well before her 2019 win of the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competitions which first brought her to the stage of Carnegie Hall, she had already been playing professionally in her native Japan, delighting audiences with a talent offering every indication of the kind of promise she has gone on to fulfill year after year.

Now, with two of the most important engagements of her career just months away, she continues to apply herself with the same diligence she has shown her entire life. A student of Steinway Artist Cosmo Buono, together they focus on careful and steady examination of repertoire, interpretation, and the development of technique designed to let her reach her fullest career potential.

She will reprise this groundbreaking debut on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Tokyo’s famed Suntory Hall, known for its legendary acoustics, and a spirit of philanthropy shared by Andrew Carnegie and Keizo Saji which led them to build these two temples dedicated to great music.

  • The Alexander & Buono Foundation (ABF) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation established in 2008 with a mission to identify the world’s most promising classical musicians and help them launch and sustain careers, while developing new audiences who understand, value, and appreciate classical music.

Whether through music education, performance, arts administration, or a vast array of associated professions, the goal of ABF remains simplifying the process by which classical musicians establish fulfilling careers. By offering professional guidance as well as scholarships, study grants, and performance opportunities, we continue our commitment to helping artists realize their dreams.

ABF addresses the needs of these musicians at every stage of their development. Our Pre College program admits students as young as four years old and includes a College Admissions curriculum that has helped students be accepted to more than three dozen colleges and universities, including all the Ivy League institutions.

As a Strategic Partner with the Music Teachers National Association, we also chair an institute devoted to improving pedagogy among teachers, in addition to a career consulting firm with an international roster of clients.

For musicians who have already embarked on professional careers, our focus is to treat classical music as one would any other business, while showing them how to develop and implement marketing skills leading to greater visibility and awareness of their work. Individual counseling, business seminars and career initiatives round out efforts to make sure that ABF is, in every way possible, helping to not only ensure a strong future for classical music, but also those who create it.
